Oil mill Baioco
We take care of our olive trees, harvesting them by hand to obtain an extra virgin olive oil of the highest quality.
Tradition of production and quality since 1918
To maintain the quality of extra virgin olive oil, milling should be done as early as possible.
This is why we at Baioco process the olives on the same day as the harvest, with a capacity of 2 tonnes per hour. The olives are taken to our mill where we weigh them and wash them, then we grind them and knead them for 20 minutes at a temperature below 25 degrees, with cold pressing.
We use a decanter, a kind of centrifuge that separates the oil on one side and fills the tanks outside the mill with semi-wet comine.
We currently have a third-generation plant. We started with traditional stone and press processing, then with three-phase production – oil, pomace and vegetation water, and currently we work with two phases – oil production and semi-wet pomace. We are constantly investing in environmentally friendly production so that in the third generation we consume much less water and electricity and satisfy all hygiene requirements.
Environmental protection is a great value and pride of our mill. New technological equipment allows for an increase in total processing capacity, a faster process, an increase in the quantity and quality of olive oil, and a reduction in production costs.
The new technology line consumes about 26% less water in the production process and has a 100% cost saving on biofuels because the olive stones separated from the pulp are used as biofuel for heating the boiler water in the production process and for central heating of the oil mill.
